Cocktails anyone?

June 18, 2020

When we are on vacation, we both love to try new things and get a taste of the local cultures. Charlie is a little more adventurous that I am but he is slowly rubbing off on me. If you have ever been on an ocean cruise, you may know that there is always a drink of the day. This is one of Charlie's favorite things as he loves to try new cocktails. Below are a few of our favorite recipes so you can try them for yourself.

The first drink we want to start with is Charlie's go to drink, the Pineapple Mojito.

1 cup diced pineapple

1/2 cup mint leaves

1/2 cup pineapple syrup

1 cup white rum

1/3 cup lime juice

2/3 cup club soda

Muddle the pineapple and mint leaves together. Stir in the rum, lime juice and pineapple syrup. Pour into a glass with ice and top off with club soda.

My favorite drink is a Mai Tai. This is the very first drink I get as soon as I walk onto a cruise ship.

Fill a cocktail shaker half full with ice and the ingredients below. Shake well and serve with a slice of pineapple or cherries for garnish.

3 oz light rum

1 1/2 oz dark rum

1 oz Orange Curacao

2 oz pineapple juice

1 oz orange juice

1/2 oz lime juice

dash grenadine

Our last featured drink is the classic Pina Colada. This is great for sitting on the beach, by the pool or even on your deck in the back yard.

Blend together the ingredients below and serve with a slice of pineapple for garnish.

1 1/2 cup ice

1/2 cup diced frozen pineapple

2 oz pineapple juice

2 oz coconut cream

1 1/2 oz white rum

1 oz dark rum
